Capacity management

"Do we have room for this" usually gets answered after something has already been committed to, not before. Capacity management in Migreat! exists to answer that question upfront, with numbers rather than a gut feeling.

What Migreat! actually calculates

For each person and each period, Migreat! sets available hours against planned hours. Availability isn't a fixed number: leave and public holidays count, so someone who's away for two weeks genuinely has fewer available hours in that period — not just on paper.

The result is sorted into five bands: under-utilised, optimal, warning, over-allocated, and no capacity recorded. That last band exists because "zero available hours" is a different statement from "plenty of room" — an empty profile must not read as green.

One detail keeps the numbers explicable: planned hours with no date attached count towards the total but are deliberately left out of the banding, because otherwise unscheduled work would turn a period red that it may not fall in at all.

From person to business unit

Alongside the per-person view, Migreat! also rolls these figures up to business unit — available, planned, unplanned, actual and pipeline, summed across everyone who belongs to that unit. This view follows the organisational hierarchy: a unit higher up includes the units beneath it. The same roll-up feeds the capacity dashboard, the feasibility check during portfolio planning, and the scenarios described below.

Alerts when things get tight

If you'd rather not check the dashboard every week, you can set thresholds — when something counts as "warning" and when it counts as "over-allocated" — and Migreat! sends a daily email about it to whoever needs to know. Thresholds are set per organisation; the alert itself stays off until you turn it on.

Building a what-if, without touching reality

Alongside the current picture you can build scenarios: a copy of the situation in which you move hours and dates around to see what happens downstream — without changing the real plan. A scenario can be saved, duplicated and compared against another, or simply run through once without being stored at all.

What Migreat! does not do

No skills model. The arithmetic works with hours and availability, never with who's able to do what.
Over-allocation is made visible, not blocked. The system won't refuse a plan, however full a period already is.
No integration with an external leave system. Leave and public holidays are recorded inside Migreat! itself.
